HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF, TIME AND TIME AGAIN
Shlomo Hamelech, the smartest of all people, said “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” Life repeats itself, and as much as things seem to change, they stay the same.
A person who is been around the block can already predict the next move just by looking into the past, as it says in Pirkei Avos: “Wise is he who sees the future.”
As a Lubavitcher this takes on special meaning, for as any history buff would tell you, the way things work is: First the Lubavitcher Rebbe announces a Mivtza, then there is strong opposition to it, a few years later the opponents adopt the practice, and a few years later they go around claiming they invented it. It is obvious that the Rebbe scheps Nachas when the Mivtzoim He initiated are adopted by world jewry, and it is not an issue if someone else claims to reinvent the wheel.
This course of action was seen from the beginning of the Rebbe’s Nesius, from the opening of Chabad Houses and bringing jews closer to Judaism, then with Mivtza Tefillin and Shabbos Candles, and recently even Mivtza Moshiach. Those who were against Hafotzas Ha’maayanos now claim they invented “Kiruv” and open centers around the world.
A real Chossid is not bothered by this, he is actually happy to see that those who opposed the Rebbe are now on the Rebbe’s team, they “steal” his work and “compete” with him by helping Jews do Mitzvos. He is also not bothered when someone opens up shop claiming to invent the Kiruv movement or be the first Jewish presence in town, for as long as Jews are discovering their heritage – he is happy. The Rebbe’s goal was to spread Judaism and bring Moshiach, not to create a worldwide alternative movement.
APPLIES TO LUBAVITCHERS TOO…
Although in the past this occured only outside Chabad, today this is occuring inside Chabad too, with people who opposed the Rebbe’s ideology are now realizing the truth and rejoining the ranks, and even claiming they are in charge of it…
In the months following Gimmel Tamuz 5754, specifically Tishrei 5755 (and even a few Tishrei’s afterwards), people were claiming that there is no need to come to the Rebbe anymore, that Gimmel Tamuz was the end of the era and now is the time of spreading the Rebbe’s legacy by helping Shluchim. Those who stood up against the tide and claimed otherwise, were branded as an “Extremist Minority,” but the years that have passed have shown that travelling to the Rebbe is still a basic tennet in Hiskashrus to the Rebbe, and although we do not see the Rebbe with our own eyes – no one will claim that there is no need to travel to the Rebbe.
The next step in their “return to the roots” was when to come to the Rebbe. The month of Tishrei with all its holidays, happiness and Yechi singing, did not fit the agenda of those who tried to portray a more “advanced” and “normal” Chabad, so they tried to find alternative dates to come the Rebbe. But the Rebbe’s words prevailed, and today it is no question in the mind of any Bochur that Tishrei he must be by the Rebbe.
After agreeing to come to Tishrei, the next step was to discuss whether to come to 770 or not, with some people claiming that 770 is not the place to be during Tishrei. Arguments took place, and booklets were distributed pro-and-against, but at the end of the day 770 is filled to capacity with guests from all stripes of Chabad Chassidim hoping and praying for the complete revelation.
As we enter the 5773rd year since the creation of the world it seems like no one needs any proof that the Rebbe’s will has succeeded in Chabad. All those who fought against coming to the Rebbe, or against coming for Tishrei, or against spending Tishrei in 770, are those who encouraged others to create a competing organization to provide food and lodging for those who: 1) come to the Rebbe, 2) for Tishrei, 3) to 770!

There is only one step left, and hopefully with time they will reach that level too, joining the singing and dancing of Yechi and welcoming the Rebbe Melech Hamoshiach who will come and redeem us now!
HAKORAS HATOV, AND THE PLASTIC KNIVES
An old Yerushalmi saying goes, that when a Jew does another Jew a favor he should give him a bag of plastic knives saying “When you will come and stab me in the back, use these knives, it won’t hurt as much…”
The phenomenal institution of “Eishel – Hachnasas Orchim” needs no introduction, as every Lubavitcher worldwide has become aware of its activities. From its early days under R’ Moshe Ze’ev Yeruslavsky OBM, the Rebbe encouraged all its activities and called on Anash to help. After Rabbi Yeruslavsky’s passing, this organization was on the verge of collapse, and a group of dedicated Bochurim headed by the indefatigable Meanchem Mendel Hendel took charge, ensuring the continuation of this venture, converting it into one of Chabad’s largest Chessed operations in the world, providing all the spiritual and physical needs of guests, and even building a fancy resort for guests from out of town.
The people running the organization have never asked for a “Thank You” from anyone, they just want to be left to do their job, without being pestered and bothered. But instead of basic Hakaras Hatov, we have people who took the Yerushalmi stance above, and despite being the recipients of help from Eishel – Hachnosas Orchim in the past years, they are the ones stabbing in the back, bothering this institution and putting stumbling blocks wherever they turn.
It seems like in the last few days someone was not able to hold himself in, and its sad.

Great is the Z’chus and the Nachas Ruach from this, as the Rebbe said about this endeavor.
Surely each person will partake in this, and it there is no need to explain at length the great importance of this, and the blessing it brings forth.
