We heard thing like “Transparency”, “Openness”, “This time it’s going to be different” and “I want to communicate more with the community”.
It took Zaki b. Tamir and The Crown Heights Jewish Community Council Inc. six month to put up a web-site, which now only reports old news from six weeks ago and only exclusively reports what has taken place in the past and not whats coming up in the future.
For example: We hear about PUBLIC parties or meetings only after they took place (and even from those we don’t hear about all of them), never has the general public been invited to these public parties or meetings. Lucky us, we get to see pictures on-line and get to read a few short lines, and may I add, vague lines about what had taken place.
We will only hear about an event that they think will lick out to the public vie the web-sites. So they have no chose put to come out with their version of what took place (to control the message).
If they could have it their way, then everything they do would be top secret. Zero Media, Zero information to the public. You see, we just get in the way. So they throw us a bone or two and say “good doggy, good doggy, take a treat”.
Why all the secrecy? Why all the back door meetings? Why do we only get a vague run down of took place? How many more parties and meetings have taken place that the community don’t know about? Why aren’t the people invited to these meetings or parties, is the CHJCC trying to hide these events and what takes place from the general publics? Are there those who are better then others? Are only the elites invited to community events?
Back to the web-site: Every second week the CHJCC comes out with a newsletter, with past news and very selected hand picked and very vague news from the past. For some reason everyone I ask never seem to have a copy. I asked many from various Shuls, each one claims that one person or another throws it out before Shabbos.
So the next best thing, one would think, was checking it out on the official CHJCC web-site. But checking the CHJCC web -site, one will only find the last addition (from two weeks ago) which was only added a week before.
Then there is the old news updates, even that hasn’t been updates for about three weeks. Whatever happened to Transparency and openness? Isn’t it time the people of this community get treated like adults?
Maybe they are plain and simple just busy….busy counting the millions…who has time for web-sites…who has time for the Crown Heights Jewish Community?
Exit Question: Why would I be interested in the CHJCC newsletter?
Well you see, I’m not interested in what they have to say, I’m interested in what they are NOT saying (and they don’t say a lot).
